Camping with Nat and Nate for their Glacier National Park engagement session!
We spent an evening in Apgar Village in Glacier National Park for Nat and Nate’s engagement session! These two love camping and being outdoors so we started off hanging out along the shore of Lake McDonald and then made our way back to the campsite in the Apgar Campground.
Looking at the forecast, it seemed like rain and storms were inevitable all day long – but the lighting and weather ended up being beyond perfect and I was so happy with how blue the mountains looked in the background and the soft light of the sun. Can you say #dreamy?!
Usually this area of Lake McDonald is filled with people at sunset but surprisingly we had it mostly to ourselves this evening. Nat and Nate’s connection feels so effortless reflecting on these photos and I love how they just look like they’re meant to be together without a doubt. Their love is infectious. I’m sure you can feel it, too!
I absolutely adore taking photos of how couples hold hands and each other. We all know how being held makes us feel, but it’s even more beautiful to see it and have that feeling come back to couples as they look at their photos.
As we were heading back to their campsite in the Apgar Campground, I just had to snap a few pictures and have a little bit of fun here. What can I say? Photos in the road are literally my favorite, I don’t know what it is but something about them just feels so fun to me!
When we got back to the campsite, they snuggled up in their sleeping bags and grabbed some beer and enjoyed time by the fire. It was such a fun challenge to shoot through the fire and at right after sunset when there was less lighting to work with!
Naturally – hammock and tent snuggles were a must too. I’ve always dreamed of a session like this and it was so fun to work with new angles and get perspectives on all of the snuggling!
We finished up the session by lantern light with slurping some ramen noodles and sipping on hot chocolate. It was beyond dreamy to work with these two and capture their connection with one another so intimately. Camping was one of my favorite things growing up and to this day, I always treasure the time to disconnect with technology and connect more to those I’m with and, of course, with nature. It’s so peaceful and tranquil and so many of my favorite memories are from times spent camping and hiking!
If camping and comfortable clothes are more your style – consider having your engagement photos reflect that! If you still want an outfit change – it’s a great idea to start with casual clothes and then change into your second, usually more dressy, outfit for the rest of the pictures!
Don’t feel pressured to have a dressy outfit though – engagement pictures are all about having photos that reflect you two and your wedding day is an opportunity to get photos more glammed up! If you’re ready to book your engagement session (or even just a good ole couples adventure session!) with me, be sure head over to my contact page and we can chat more about your vision. I can’t wait to capture your love story!
